Informational Meeting on Conservation

Dear Cottagers and Shareholders:
The Committee is pleased to report that both the Kennebec
Estuary Land Trust (KELT at www.lkrlt.org)
) and the Maine Coast Heritage Trust (MCHT at www.mcht.org) ) have confirmed interest in SICO's
conveyance of a conservation easement for the northern part of MacMahan Island
and all of Turnip Island. One organization responded to our proposal
stating "...this is an important conservation project" and the
other stated it would be "...a tremendous addition to conservancy in our
region."
The Committee is currently conducting due diligence
reviews and will meet later this week to discuss qualifications of
each organization as it progresses towards a recommendation to the
Board of Directors.
The attendance at the July 4 informational meeting was
excellent, as was the feedback received on the proposed conservation
easement. The July 25 meeting will provide yet another opportunity to ask
questions or provide your views about the proposed easement or
the candidate conservation organizations.
The Committee looks forward to seeing you on July 25 at 11:00
am.
